The Shepherd’s Center of Lexington


Position:
Executive Director of the Shepherd’s Center of Lexington reports to Board of Directors. Direct Supervisor is the Board Chair. This is a part-time position of 25 hours per week.

LEXINGTON, SOUTH CAROLINA — The Shepherd’s Center of Lexington’s Board of Directors is proud to re-elect Kay Mitchell as Chair of the Board on June 9, 2017. Ms. Mitchell brings her years of knowledge and experience to the Board. Most of her career was spent with the SC State Unit on Aging as the Director of Education and Information Services. She spent time leading teams to develop programs and services for older adults. Along with a career that assisted older adults, Ms. Mitchell serves as a Board Member and Past President (6 times) of the Pilot Club of Columbia. She also represents Lexington County on South Carolina Silver Haired Legislature and serves as Central Midlands Caucus Chair.

Recognized for her expertise in senior living programs and services, Sandy Olson brings over 30 years of experience to the Shepherd’s Center Board of Directors. Most of

The Shepherd’s Center of Lexington held its Annual Meeting of the Membership and Volunteer Recognition on June 9, 2017. A report of the past year was provided by Kay Mitchell, Chair of the Board of Directors on the accomplishments for 2016-2017. The Enrollment in Adventures in Learning increased by 20%. Volunteers were recognized for their service to the Shepherd’s Center with 1,677 hours. Instructors for Adventures in Learning Sessions provided 594 hours of service.

Susan Mitton, selected as the Volunteer of the Year, has handled all of the media equipment since the Shepherd Center started classes in January 2013. She was still working so set up equipment in classrooms on Wednesday evening. She has continued this task since she retired and is always available when an instructor has problems with their equipment. Susan serves on the Board of Directors representing the Lexington United Methodist Church. Retired after 40 years with the Lexington I School District as a Media
