Volunteer of the Year

A 60-mile round trip, twice a week, for seven-plus years — that's the drive Robbie Koon DeFreese makes just to attend classes at the Shepherd's Center of Lexington.
But Robbie doesn't just attend — she works. She staffs registration, photographs classes for social media, helps serve nearly 190 attendees at lunch, and stays late to clean up. As a Board member since 2022, she shows up for quarterly meetings and every special event in between.
A retired court reporter and devoted South Carolina Gamecock fan, Robbie makes everyone she meets feel valued.
